A conference call took place on June 27 to re-convene the delivery group Conference call attendance: · Carol Clemente, Binghamton University · Debby Emerson, Rochester Regional Library Council · Sonja Landes, SUNY College at Geneseo · Kathleen Gundrum, Nylink Unable to attend: · Jeff Katz, Bard College · Jennifer Morris, Pioneer Library System · Francie Mrkich, Columbia University · Eric Neubacher, Baruch College · Cindy Hajeck, Nylink We discussed our charge regarding recommending a statewide delivery service, and agreed that one model might not fit all. We also might not have an answer for how it will be funded. Because there are already systems in place, are there ways to expand what already exists to make it available to more [LAND as a statewide delivery service, coupled with regional delivery services]? We also discussed UPS Campus Ship, and that this would work for some libraries, but not all. Is there a way to approach UPS [or another courier?] with a mass quantity of NYS libraries? And, if so, who would do it? Who would negotiate on behalf of NY’s libraries? The largest issue is cost: how can everyone become part of statewide delivery? Who will pay for it? In other states [Ohio, PA], their system is subsidized by the state; that is not an option here short-term. Survey: the group agreed to move forward with the survey, which will be targeted to resource sharing contacts at libraries. The questions can include topics such as what people want and need for delivery. Action items: Finalize survey questions by Friday, July 18: ALL Re-send wiki information: Kathy- it is at http://nylink.org/nyrsswiki/ Contact Loretta Ebert at NYS Library re: replacement for Caleb Dervin: Kathy Set up future meeting dates: Kathy
